the man in the mirror and control

When it comes to learning from our mistakes, each of us is not much better than the other. There are those who do learn, but overall, we as humanity, progress at the pace of the slower...because no matter how good you are, the weak one is indirectly keeping you back a bit.  Plus, when we do managed to form teams and fight for same outcome, human emotions take over, we get to feel pride and expect credit for our efforts, we race for control, and not lastly, we become ignorant . Ignorance IS  bliss . You reach the top and suddenly you think you can afford it,or you gain your right to it,  without being obvious to those around you. We get the feeling we have everything under control, when in fact, tables can turn in a matter of seconds.
Tens of major natural disasters are affecting the world every year, and we re not able to defend ourselves. We have technology to warn us, but when it comes to actually stopping it from happening, we might as well be ants, that's how strong we are. And for some reason the poorest areas are suffering the most. These places don't have it easy to begin with, and when a flood or earthquake or typhoon happens, the farming cycle usually gets changed completely. The developed countries have to and do assist these people, draining on their own resources. Its only fair to do so, and considering the tons in waste generated by the rich countries everyday, at least some of the surplus is put to good use.  Nevertheless, the earth is pretty much like an old, overweight, sick person...For all the excess of a lifetime cannot be dealt with, tending now to all the wounds of poor Earth may come too late. Too many generations exploited this Earth richness as much as they could. Its almost like we were animals with no conscience.  Laws and methods against human habitat destructions ( the result of which is species being unable to survive in the very location they were born) were almost always enforced after much damage being done already. Deforestation, chemical waste disposal, conversion of land to agriculture, urban and infrastructure expansion, desertification and coral reef degradation  are just some of the "shock treatments" we administered to Earth
"What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth this weeping shores?".
....less and less songs with that kind of message , RIP MJ
And as Carlin, a comedian do not forget, said: "Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong" In Romanian we say the truth gets out in the form of a joke many times....well that's true, and the joke is on all of us.
Natural disasters have been around since the birth of Earth, is only that we got better at monitoring and recording, once we got more technologically advanced. We may be so, but when it came to financial recession for example, we once again found ourselves as helpless as faced with a typhoon.
So what exactly DO we control?!    Long gone are the times when you had same job for life, together with some sort of security over yours savings and your pension. How many people lost everything overnight in the last few years? There is no security really over your life in the coming year, never mind your lifetime savings. No matter what the banks are telling you, you can only count on yourself really. The system is deeply flawed and following the crowd- same as when you climbed the property ladder for example- is not the smartest idea. We all have to return to basic, see ourselves as individuals,  independent characters. Free yourself from mass manipulation. In our enthusiast towards a more integrated world,we forgot how unique and different we are, we ceased the power within us to organizations we pay for, but have little control over what they do, in fact , they control us. I heard so many people whining over how the pharmaceutical industry feeds us,and wants us sick. We all know it, still nobody fights it.  Politics invaded each and every single aspect of our lives, from sports to health, from schools to church. And sooner or later, hopefully sooner "the people in this country/world are gonna realize the government does not give a fuck about them!" (Carlin)
And I m going to end with one more of Carlin's observations, not for the obvious reason, that I appreciate his smart ass, but because his message MUST be passed on : "We’re so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody’s going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don’t even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven’t learned how to care for one another. We’re gonna save the fuckin’ planet? And, by the way, there’s nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are fucked! Compared with the people, the planet is doin’ great. It’s been here over four billion years The planet isn’t goin’ anywhere, folks. We are! We’re goin’ away. Pack your shit, we’re goin’ away. And we won’t leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam. The planet will be here, and we’ll be gone. Another failed mutation, another closed-end biological mistake."
