the fast generation and the slow me

My son cried when he changed schools three years ago...Since than, we still haven't found time to go and visit his first school and his teachers, and he s so sweet when every time we re in the area, he s back giving out to me about it...."mum, you always say we will come visit one day and here we are again" .....We managed to meet up one time with his former best friend. Its been such a happy day for both of them, and how big they both got since they saw each other last....Me and the boy's mum, we were impressed:  they stayed friends like they never skipped a day!
Myself, in one of the visits back home, I walked around my school, general school as it's called there, and remembered... for instance, I must ve been in 6th or 7th class : there was an earthquake, and the big plaster made map of the world fell off the wall in the main hallway of the school. And than the havoc and the panic between us, children. I remember the sports classes, where I ve never been one of the best, struggling at volleyball and basketball and quite envying the better girls.
I said to Brandon: you ll sure make new friends, here he is in secondary school, and straight after first dayin, he noticed a difference : " mammy, I love this school, they treat us like grown ups"  "well, that implies responsibility, Brandon, it won't all be laughter and teenage messing, mind you"  And him: " I know, I know mum...."
I do understand Brandon's longing after those "little baby" 'years. We grow up than we grow older, and we re back to childhood memories through the times of fun we share with our children. We dare to take a look back and share the stories with them. And once again, like my mum 's stories sound to me, my own stories are so funny to my son. We keep on telling them anyway, holding on to our conviction that our childhood was the best and what sort of childhood do children nowadays have? I was climbing every tree around my grandparents house and steeling apples from the neighbors, they are playing in security watched, gated backyards. What hide and seek?! they re connecting with friends on-line and they want to start their own youtube channel. Gosh, he explained this to me through out and I still don't get it completely   New generations are so quick, we re getting slower.
